What a great day we had a school today! We enjoyed multi-age groups this morning, rotating through Math and Literacy Halloween activities. In the afternoon, we had a wonderful assembly, hosted by the grade 3 students, a short party and then off to gym and PLC! Thank you to all of the families that sent in treats! I wish my students a safe and fun night of trick or treating!
The Grade 3,4 & 5 students of Hubbard Elementary School in Oromocto, NB created this cool video as a fitness activity. Their dancing and costumes are very cool. Who doesn't love the Thriller dance?
What an amazing day we had upon the NB Southern train!! We truly had a fabulous time riding the passenger train to Welsford, NB and back. Thank you to Mrs. Johnston, the PALS program and Mr. Irving for making this trip possible. How cool was it to have pizza delivered to the train? I will post our photos to our site this weekend...keep checking back!
This Wednesday, Oct.24th is our train trip, compliments of NB Southern Railway, Mr. Irving and the PALS program. Lunch of cheese pizza and water will be served. If your child does not like pizza, a lunch will be required to be sent from home. We are only allowed to bring water to avoid sticky spills. We will be leaving Harbour Station at 10:00am and returning at approximately at 1:15pm. I will take lots of photos and post them on our site for your enjoyment. Please, no electronics! What a wonderful opportunity for us! Thank you to Mrs. Johnston for making this possible for us!!
We will NOT be having a Halloween Party or costumes on Wednesday, October 31st. We will be celebrating by wearing black and orange and taking part in fun activities. Costumes really make the day too crazy...trust me! Also, the students will have lots of treats to eat that evening, so we don't need to overdue it with treats at school. Thank you for your support and understanding.
If you have any questions regarding our trip and Halloween, just drop me a note or email!
Yahoo!! After a fantastic Train Safety presentation by Mrs. Johnston, she announced that we were going on a train ride! The ride on the passenger train will take us from Harbour Station to Welsford and back on Wednesday, Oct.24th. Permission slips will be coming home on Monday! Check those homework books!
A big thank you to Mrs. Johnston for a wonderful, informative presentation! The activity books are very cool too!
Tomorrow, Friday, October 12th we will be having a Fire Safety presentation. We are going to be well trained in safety after this week!
I am very pleased to send home the student's Rock Collections that I marked. Please sign and return the marking sheet that was sent home to be reviewed (Duff dollars are given for returning it). I have encouraged the kids to check through the rubric/marking sheet before they bring in their monthly projects, to ensure they get top marks. If they aim for the top mark, they will succeed. There are no surprises with a rubric.
We are wrapping up the Rocks and Mineral unit and there will be a test on the following Tuesday, Oct. 16th. I will provide study cards to prepare for the test. I encourage the kids to study these before bedtime, on the way to hockey, gymnastics, waiting at the grocery store, etc.....by the weekend, the students should be able to sort them into two piles, the pile they know and a the pile, they don't. Then they can focus on the don't know pile for Tuesday. We will also be studying at school. This tool will be the only thing they need to study as it sums up all we covered in the unit. If you have any questions, please drop me a note or email.
Mrs. Duff and her students will keep you posted on what we are up to!
